Controversies are always comfortable unless and until it does not deplete your on ground performance and the off screen image.
Most of us might not have forgot about "The Oval Fiasco" in August 2006 ,which is still considered to be one of the biggest controversies in Cricket history. Pakistan Cricket team had walked over in the middle of the game against England when the onfield umpire Darrell Hair awarded five runs to England on pretext of shamming the condition of the ball. He further offered England to opt for a new ball. Following this happened the huge drama, which the cricket history had ever seen. Pakistan Cricket Team protested against the decision and refused to continue with the game after the drinks' break. Later Hair was proven wrong and sacked from ICC's elite panel.
You can find the complete story in the video:
Then the most famous "Ball Tampering saga" that shooked Pakistan Cricket vigorously. The first time it happened during their 1992 England tour where Wasim and Waqar thrashed England to finish the series by 2-1.
The same thing happened with Waqar Younis who faced one match ban when the match refree John Reid found him guilty in the match against South Africa in 2000 for tampering the ball.
The last one who had caught for the same issue was Shoaib Akhtar and he was left with a warning in the match against Zimbabwe in 2002.
Now the most recent was that the Doping controversy that threw off their most consistent bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif from International Cricket as they failed the doping test before the Champions Trophy. Initially, PCB decided a two year ban for Shoaib and a year for Asif, but later after a lot of criticism from their own senior players, it ended up with a life time ban.
Whenever i think about team Pakistan which well deserves to be on the top of all the ranking tables, onething strikes me out which is the controversies revolving around the team. There is a famous saying by Martin Luther King the Junior, “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands during the moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy". Some of the quotes have been well matched erstwhile, whereas only a handsome can be matched even to this contemporary world. No one can give such a prominent quote about controversies other than Martin, who has been into the world of controversies quite a long time. Later thrown all the controversies into the bin after being awarded "The Nobel Prize" in 1964 for his remarkable contributions towards the eradication of racial discrimination in the US. Finally he proved how he influenzed The US history by eradicating racial segregation and discrimination.
Likewise, the time had come for the Pakistan Cricket Board to prove their stand once again to all the Cricketing Nations and they well explored their talents n proved it after a long time. Their last win in any tournament was in the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka in 2000 and their last win in any Champoinship Series was over England in the 1992 World cup Final that was led by injured Imran Khan. They lost 4 of their first 5 matches and almost was out of the Competition. Thereafter they started their winning streak which led them to the most famous win against the hosts New Zealand.
Before the commencement of the recent ICC World Twenty20 tournament, they were one of the weakest sides who were mentally affected after the attack on the Sri Lankan team earlier this year. The Pakistan team was cornered from the international domain after this incident and almost all the players were denied to appear in the recent IPL edition.
This is the only test playing team in which none of the players have appeared in the IPL edition(with the exception of Abdul Razzaq who appeared in the ICL). And the most important news is that they played only one test match over the last one and a half year time.
It nearly took 17 years for this intelligible team to prove themselves and that too after a major disaster in their Cricketing History. They finally proved their stand to all the test playing nations for what they are capable of and they have got their spot in the International arena once again and its not just a win to cherish rather its all about mixed feelings and emotions. I think this would be the best time to congratulate the team Pakistan and hope them keep up the current momentum and the clock ticking on.
MY HEARTFUL CONGRATULATIONS TO TEAM PAKISTAN. ROCK ONNNNN...
